Civil and Martial Wind and Fire’s Marvels and Effects
This is a method for the application of the breath.
The martial wind is great wind; the civil wind is small wind.
The chapter heading therefore refers to intense and weak breathing.
Starting one’s Gong, one must calm oneself every evening before midnight, after 11pm:
“Once one feels extreme emptiness and earnest stillness,
one will naturally awaken.
One Yang appears, but it does not emerge from any thought.
How could one make us of muddy water?
When thoughts are absent, the Yang takes shape by itself.”
The external kidneys, the genitals, become erected and reproductive system aroused.
For a normal person it happens when the thoughts ponder about the beauty of females, and every day it is consumption takes place. This is a great danger.
Who would want to dance on the main square of the town, if it was not for chasing women?
At that time of rising of the Yin, the phenomenon comes from stillness and movement according to the orbiting of the universe. The Original Essence wants to pours out its dew, but one must refrain from doing so. When the external medicine reaches this condition, one must unify Original Essence, Original Qi and Original Spirit, having no thoughts at the time of occurrence.
This means that one should carry out the Skill of the mixing and compounding the medicine. The objective is to be able to pick the medicine and being able to grasp-hold it. This needs to be conducted at the appropriate time for the Original Essence. It should not be too strong or too weak in terms of controlling it. The regulation must conform to definite measures. The medicine to be picked should not be too old or too tender. This notion could be likened to cooking food. If fried for too long, the meal will be burnt and taste bitter. If not fried enough, it will be undercooked and raw.
Cycle the refinement of the mysterious workings of the wind-breath’s blowing of the fiery thoughts. Refine the Qi and the Original Essence. The wind is the Qi of the breath. The fire is the Spirit of the empty soul, the invisible thoughts and emotions. The spirit nature is the Pre-Heaven thoughts and the sixth sense. There are deep and shallow levels of consciousness to this:
“The civil one is the non-active;
Unbound by action wind and fire.
The martial one is active;
Bound to action, forceful and coerced wind and fire.”
It is the non-active civil wind and civil fire, because it is used at exactly two stages of the compounding of the external medicine, namely the power before and after picking the medicine. And the active martial wind and martial fire are used during the compounding of the medicine at the time of original essence flourishing upright when it is at its most powerful point. But at the time of the movement of True Qi, it is the easiest to have a downward flow and smooth exiting of Essence. Downward leakage and loss of Essence occurs.
One must use True Intent to pull back this ox.
How could one able to move an ox?
It is like standing under a waterfall trying to climb it up through the rushing water.
It is like standing in a violent river trying to row a boat upstream.
When transforming True Qi into Original Essence, one must use the wind to support the fire. One must use the true intent to concentrate on the entering into the life palace, the Qi-point’s centre. Jing, Qi and Spirit unify. Original Qi entering Essence turns it into Original Essence. Control and grasp the True Qi and the True Qi then will move downwards and change into Original Essence. It is incredibly precious and its loss is the loss of life at this given moment in time. If one is without the breathing and not using the wind to support fire refinement.
fire not melting metal, the Original Essence will inevitably not be able to re-transform into Original Qi, and it cannot return to the abode of the Kun furnace, its original palace in the centre.
But if one use’s the inhale and exhale breath in the Cinnabar Field’s centre, one exiting – one entering, one must elevate one’s consciousness. One’s sight is spying calmly. One’s Intent is without distraction as if a cat about to catch a rat, as if a soft-shelled turtle watching its eggs, guarding them and instilling a type of special power into them. The entire Spirit absorbed and paying close attention to it. The ten thousand ties and affinities are all empty and in vain.
With any distracting thought there will be no Seed. With any relaxation on the thought aspect there will be no forming of any fruit, there will be no true fruit of the Seed. There will be no true body’ Seed, no Original ody seed, no golden elixir Seed. That is why refining the Self is so strict:
“What other people think about, he does not think about.
What other people want, he does not want.
He is regarded as blockhead and numbskull.
-An idiot and simpleton-
Going down this path, how much does one have to sacrifice?
If you are not willing to give things up, you will never obtain this Seed.”
In the bible is says:
“The gate to the Heavenly Kingdom is very narrow.
It is difficult to enter sideways, let alone carrying one’s bundle through it.”
In order to enter one must put down one’s bag and any worry.
If one wants to ascend, this scripture is a priceless and invaluable treasure. If one has no interest in the ascent to heaven, then it is like a weed on the side of the road, not even worth a penny.
Arouse the Wind and breathing, fan up the flames of the furnace, stoke the fire.
Let the breath take refuge in its root in the Cinnabar Field, only then is one able to conform to the method of the ‘Skill of intensely Cooking and urgent Refinement’.
Otherwise the Essence will flow out with desires.
Furthermore the Intent is in the furnace, in the Qi-Point. There is no attachment to the inhaling and exhaling. The breathing assists the unification of the Original Qi and the Original Spirit. One must specialise on the breath.
“One must not be like a person staring at the mobile phone
while walking down the street, but not bumping into people on the sidewalk;
the attention being clearly in two places at the same time and not undivided.”
Only focus the Intent on the Original Qi. Only by drawing on the inhale-exhale mechanism, is one able to extract and carry out the purpose and objective of the refinement through cooking and boiling.
These articles are like a huge bamboo. One has to talk about the side-branches at times and cannot just follow along the main stalk at all times.
